Tuấn Mami

Tuấn Mami is an interdisciplinary-experimental artist, he is constantly exploring new mediums and different methods from different fields, including anthropology and social research into his art practice in increasingly meditative experiments with installation, video, performance and conceptual art. Over several years, he has been studying the concept of ‘mankind’, with a special focus on the transhitorical processes arising from social interactions between people and the environment. He re-constructs situations into ones that engage people or objects from particular reality to enter and involve together in a social process.

Mami has held number of solo exhibitions such as: Protest Against the Void (Defibrillator Gallery, Chicago, 2013); 24Hours Tension (PØST, Los Angeles, 2013); In a Breath – Nothing Stands Still (Art Rotterdam, 2016; The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre, HCMC, 2018; Teratotera, Tokyo, 2018). Selected international group exhibitions: The Clouds Will Tell (Changwon Sculpture Biennale, South Korea, 2014); Plastic Myths (ACC Gwangju, South Korea, 2015); Krisis (Nottingham, UK, 2016); Documenting Change – Our Climate (The –CU Art Museum, Colorado, 2019); Southeast Asia Performance Collection (Haus Der Kunst, Munich, 2019); Co/Inspiration in Catastrophe (MOCA Taipei, Taiwan, 2019); Matter of Art (Prague Biennale, Czech Republic, 2020); Vietnamese Immigrating Garden (Documenta15, Kassel, Germany, 2022).

Other than being as an artist, he is co-founder and aboard member of Nhà Sàn Collective in Hanoi; Co-founder and Board of Directors of Á Space – An Experimental Art Space.

Rory Gill has been involved in and passionate about Asian art for over 10 years, having worked initially in a Shanghai auction house, then opening a South East Asian Art gallery in London, and now principally as a co-founder of Á Space, and collector of contemporary Asian art.
