18.30 – 20.00, Feb 04 2023
Á Space, Ngõ 59 Ngô Gia Tự, Long Biên, Hà Nội
Every Bilious Moon is a solo show by Vũ Đức Toàn (on view at Á from December 30, 2022 till January 15.2023).
Ngô Thành Bắc is an artist who currently lives and works in Hanoi, also a member of the Appendix Group, a performance art group founded in 2010 with 6 members. Bắc graduated The Vietnamese Fine Art University in 2008. He has been involved in many national/transnational shows and performance art festivals. Most recently, Bắc participated in Berlin Biennale 12 with the work “Headstand” (2007/2022)
Nguyễn Văn Phúc graduated from Vietnam University of Fine Art in 2003. He has been regarded as one of notable artists in the landscape of contemporary painting. Phúc has had two solo shows and participated in multiple group exhibitions, both domestic and oversea. His practices of painting are all situated in an outlandish, like-no-other space or setting with marks of metaphorical humour. Using strong palettes to demonstrate themes revolving around the daily life, Phúc undresses the world of his inner self – the ritualized mental wrestlings in the face of constantly changing status quo and the scene of Vietnam in the new age. In 2022, Nguyễn Văn Phúc had his solo show “No-think” at Manzi Art Space. (Source: Manzi Art Space)
The solo show Every Bilious HoneyMoon, alongside the play A Rendezvous at Minh Dĩ Ký, are those of last shows in Á in the year of the Tiger. Nevertheless, this show has yet to end. We still have one more talk inaugurating the Year of the Cat with back-and-forth discussions, critiques and self-critiques on the show and the play at 18:30PM in February 04, 2023 at the coffee stand Minh Dĩ Ký.
Butter-smooth the show went. So for this talk, we will be landing on talking the improvement-needed points, as well as answering on spot all those inquires echoed from the rows of audiences (rumors let it be that there were numerous). Our artist Vũ Đức Toàn in the role of a moderator, while other guest speakers will flicker up with hands holding micros are: Ngô Thành Bắc and Nguyễn Văn Phúc.
This talk will last roughly an hour or longer, dependent on the extent of questions and the possibilities of microphone-passing among speakers. If questions run short, the talk may last not up to an hour and we will glide into the mode of new-year celebration!!
The event is announced in a dash due to an we-all-know-why reason. We sincerely thank you for your understanding and hope to invite you to come by.
