Amanda Reid is a multimedia artist who does videos, film essays, and photography. Her work explores spatial politics, identity and culture, generational history.
“I work and explore my work within divided spaces – spaces that are geographical, cultural, familial, states of mind, and personhood). As a Vietnamese-American artist who can’t completely unite the gaps within her ethnicity and citizenship, I make sense of myself through video art and photography that can point to moments of accidental unity across imagined and real cultural distances. My work is part experimental narrative, part non-fiction, seeking to reveal a wholeness through solidarity with other speakers and imaginative conceptions of identity.”
