There were supposed to be only 10 screenings planned for the mini moving image week: Tương tương ngộ ngộ cá kho tộ, ngộ ngộ tương tương đậu kho tương. However, on the second day of the week, Lê Xuân Tiến decided to arrange another screening taking place on the second to last day of the week, inviting friends near and far to come and enjoy the series of animations by a Soviet/Russian couple: director Yuri Norstein and art director Francheska Yarbusova.

Winter Days is an anthology of animated films adapted from the 1684 renku series of the same name by poet Matsuo Basho. Similar to the way the verse is composed, the 36 stanzas of the poetry collection were animated by 35 different animators independently, each of whom was asked to contribute at least 30 seconds of visuals. Yuri Norstein is the initiator of this anthology.

In 1980, two famous Russian animators Yuri Norstein and Francheska Yarbusova together embarked on an animated film called “The Overcoat”, based on the short story of the same name by Author Nikolai Gogol. After 40 years of work, the film is still unfinished.
