Sung Tieu is a Vietnamese/German artist born in Hai Duong, Vietnam.

Her work contemplates the interdependent historical and contemporary constructs of power that define culture and its consumption today. Through the lens of her personal narratives, she contends with issues of social and cultural class divide as well as membership. Within her performance, installation, moving image and sound works, she conveys a sense of dislocation, often deliberately eluding narrative legibility. Using artwork as assemblage, her multi-layered installations examine the sublimatory potential of minimalist art while resisting any singular discursive translation.

She is currently in residence at Museum Arts Maebashi, Japan.
